Art Donations Needed

My classes would like to recycle some selected items.

We are making a special request for hinged tin boxes (like Sucrets, Altoids, etc.), old jewelry and pieces of broken jewelry. THANK YOU!

Recycling

I am collecting:

Round Coke bottles
Bubble packing
Fancy wrapping papers (Decorative with no holiday themes)
Misc. small hardware and keys
Old jewelry

If you would like to help me save them, I would greatly appreciate your efforts.

Thank you.

Art Donations Needed

My classes would like to recycle your old jewelry. We can always use: wildlife and sports magazines, buttons, seashells, and things that sparkle. You can be sure that we could also think of something to do with your old craft supplies.

Thank you to all of you who send in objects and supplies for us to put to use. We are also hoping someone has a pasta press that they don’t use and would consider donating to our creative endeavors.

THANK YOU!

Smocks...

If a student wants to wear a smock in art class, they are welcome to keep one in their classroom cubby where they hang their coats. Laundering is the responsibility of the student.

Laundry

I have had several questions about laundry but I am by no means a specialist in “clean”. Three simple ways to avoid a problem are to dress in dark colored patterns, old clothes or a smock on art days.
Most of the materials we use ARE washable for most fabrics. I can suggest what I do. I put a squirt of Tide right on the stain, give it a scrub with a nail brush and throw it in the laundry pile and wash it when I have time. If you remove a white garment from the washer, and there is still a stain, deal with it while it is still wet. Take a Q-tip with bleach and daub it on the spot. Wash it again. Usually, once it dries it is permanent.
Please, reassure your child that a stain is not a catastrophe, they can get so worried and upset.
Lastly, don’t forget the book, Talking Dirty With The Queen Of Clean by Linda Cobb for all kinds of helpful hints.

Allergies

I also need your help with something personal. I have an allergy to most perfumes, colognes, and scented hair gel and have asked the students not to wear these scents on art days. Some of the students are unsure about what scented products they use. It would help me to breath if you would help them identify these products and remind them not to wear them. Since my doctors suggested that I designate my room as a Fragrance Free Zone, scented students will be asked to work in another area during art time. I am sorry for any inconvenience and am greatly appreciative of your HELP! So are the fellow students that have a similar sensitivity to fumes.

Student Portfolios

End of an Artful Year

Student portfolios of 10-12 favorites saved all year and put into a collection are sent home in May. Please help the children value their work by designating a place to display their art at home. Even better choose your favorite together and have it framed.
